Our egg producers – Black Rock hens

Just about to come into lay are our new  hens.  These Black Rock hens are (apparently) good layers, producing brown eggs.  We will soon be using their eggs for breakfasts, and if they don’t lay enough then we can still use the free-range eggs we get from the farm at Embleton.

Snow in Keswick?

Snow? It may have been snowing in most of the country, but here in the Thornthwaite area  there was very little snow at low levels, maybe a couple of millimetres.  But above about 1,000 ft on the fells there was a lot more, and in the sunshine the scenery was simply beautiful.
